Español: El 16 de julio la directora de nuestro programa, Amy Goodman, entrevistó a Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez y a la alcaldesa de Barcelona, Ada Colau. Ocasio-Cortez y Colau discutieron sus trayectorias personales, las posibilidades de los movimientos sociales para presentar candidatos a cargos políticos, las limitaciones que surgen una vez dentro de esas instituciones y la necesidad urgente de desafiar la definición de lo que es, y no es, posible.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez es la candidata demócrata por Nueva York al Congreso de Estados Unidos, tras su reciente victoria en las primarias de su partido ante el representante Joe Crowley, quien lleva 10 mandatos en el cargo y ocupa el cuarto puesto en importancia entre los demócratas de la Cámara de Representantes. Ocasio-Cortez es una socialista demócrata que dirigió una progresista campaña de base abogando por un “Medicare para todos” y por la abolición del Servicio de Inmigración de Estados Unidos. La alcaldesa de Barcelona, Ada Colau Ballano, fue elegida a través de la plataforma ciudadana Barcelona en Comú y es la primera mujer en ocupar la alcaldía de esa ciudad. |
