ONTHULLING BORSTBEELD VAN DORUS RIJKERS; Weekjournaal van Polygoon Hollands Nieuws van week 29 uit 1939.; De onthulling van een borstbeeld op het Helden der Zee-plein te Den Helder ter nagedachtenis aan de Nederlandse zeeman Theodorus Rijkers (1847-1928), die gedurende veertig jaar deelnam aan reddingsacties op zee. Het standbeeld werd geplaatst op initiatief van de het Dorus Rijkersfonds dat talloze oude redders van drenkelingen in hun oude dag tracht te voorzien. SHOTS: - grote groep belangstellenden op het plein; - de onthulling van het borstbeeld door de president-commissaris van het Dorus-Rijkersfonds, luitenant-generaal H.N.A. Swart; - het borstbeeld; - kranslegging bij het gedenkteken door de vertegenwoordiger van de koningin, luitenant A.J.F.M. Egter van Wissekerke; - enkele oud-redders; - plein met belangstellenden, waaronder de burgemeester van Den Helder G. Ritmeester, en een erewacht van mariniers.
