Description
English: Nova et Exacta Asiae Geographica Descriptio, auct G. I. BlaeuColoured engraved map representing part of Africa with the Nile and a large part of Madagascar. A small map above on the right shows the North Pole, with Nova Zembla and with the names Vogelhoek and Nieuland for Spitzbergen. A new edition of the original map by Blaeu, published by Claes Janz Visscher, whose name is engraved at the bottom of the map. The text around the border is in Latin, French and Dutch. With the inscription 'By Nicholas Visscher, in de Kalvertstraat, in de Visscher'. The 16 figures in costume and the views of cities in medallions which surronds the map are the original work of Blaeu.
