Summary
[edit]DescriptionNewly-established borrow dyke, Hadleigh Marshes - geograph.org.uk - 1519302.jpg |
English: Newly-established borrow dyke, Hadleigh Marshes As part of the sea wall construction, Anglian Water excavated new borrow-dykes inland of where the new sea wall was to be constructed with a connection to the old dyke. This allowed the flora and fauna of the old borrow-dyke to colonise the new. This new dyke is photographed approximately one year after excavation and has a good fringe of sea clubrush on the landward bank.
A borrow dyke is so-called because the soil is 'borrowed' from this channel to construct the adjacent bund or sea wall. |
