Discussion
[edit]New standard tuning offers thirds-based chords with simple fingerings; in particular, triads can be simply inverted with little left-hand movement. Since tertian triads and seventh chords are are the fundamental chords of conventional music, new standard tuning can be considered by guitarists wishing to play conventional music, for example jazz standards.
Coda: Caveats and acknowledgments
[edit]The acknowledgments to Robert Fripp, Guitar Circle, and Guitar Craft are for only identification purposes. I have no affiliation with Fripp or Guitar Circle, and I have not sought approval of this work (which has not received review). In 2014 I am delighted to note that Fripp's blessings included this 2013 benediction on NST popularization:
