Cymraeg: Yng Nghymru mae rhai o'r gwlyptiroedd iseldir gorau yn Ewrop, mae 11 ohonynt wedi cael eu diogelu fel safleoedd Natura 2000. Ar un adeg roedd gwlyptiroedd yn gyffredin ond mae draenio ac amaethyddiaeth wedi ein gadael â nifer fach o olion sydd wedi goroesi yn unig. Mae'r amodau asidig a gwlyb yn creu mawn sy'n cronni dros ddegau o filoedd o flynyddoedd, gan gloi carbon i ffwrdd a'n helpu i leihau nwyon tŷ gwydr, ond gall difrod i'r cynefinoedd hyn ryddhau'r carbon hwn ac achosi iddynt sychu. Maent hefyd yn baradwys i fywyd gwyllt, yn gyfoethog mewn planhigion, pryfed ac adar. Felly mae'n bwysig rheoli'r cynefinoedd hyn yn ddiogel i amddiffyn y bywyd gwyllt ac elwa o'r amddiffyniad rhag llifogydd a newid yn yr hinsawdd. Mae Rhaglen LIFE Natura 2000 wedi cynhyrchu cynlluniau gweithredu â chostau ar gyfer pob safle Gwlyptir Natura 2000 yng Nghymru, gan gynllunio i'r dyfodol a helpu i sicrhau arian hollbwysig.
English: Wales has some of the best lowland wetlands in Europe, 11 of which are specially protected as Natura 2000 sites. Wetlands were once widespread but drainage and agriculture have left us with just a few surviving remnants. The wet acidic conditions create peat which builds up over tens of thousands of years, locking away carbon and helping us to reduce greenhouse gases, but damage to these habitats can release this carbon and cause them to dry out. They are also a paradise for wildlife, rich in plants, insects and birds. It is therefore important to manage these habitats carefully to both protect the wildlife and to benefit from the protection from flooding and climate change. The LIFE Natura 2000 Programme has produced costed action plans for every Wetland Natura 2000 site in Wales, planning for the future and helping to obtain vital funds.
