Description
English: Nance Tinnock This statue was created in the 1870s by the Tarbolton stonemason, James Thom, to join the already famous sculptures of Tam and Johnie. Nance was landlady of an inn in Mauchline and is mentioned in the poem, “The Author’s Earnest Cry And Prayer”. (Source: Information Board). In this work, Burns addresses the Scotch representatives in the House of Commons, bemoaning the restrictions imposed on the sale of alcohol.
