Description
Português: Nação trata do novo momento nas relações Brasil-África em que o africano vem para cá como imigrante, em busca de uma vida melhor.


O Brasil tem a maior população negra fora do continente africano. Estima-se que entre 1550 e 1855, o número de africanos trazidos como escravos tenha chegado a 4 milhões de pessoas. No ano 2000, o número de imigrantes vindos da África era de pouco mais de mil pessoas. Em dez anos, esse número saltou para 35 mil e destes, 4 mil estão na serra gaúcha.

A equipe do programa vai a Caxias do Sul e mostra a vida de alguns dos imigrantes e por que essa migração tem causado polêmica, mesmo em uma cidade com muitos descendentes de imigrantes.

Este Nação conta com a participação do sociólogo português Boaventura Souza Santos, que discorre sobre racismo e colonialismo.
