享和3年(1803)刊、曲亭馬琴による、ある2つの姿や形相互の輪郭における相似に滑稽さを見出そうとした黄表紙。数例を除けば多くが人と物を対応させているが、意外性や意表をついた着眼点といった、こうした趣向特有の面白さには乏しい。題は「訓蒙図彙」をかすめている。本書冒頭に成立事情の一端が記されており、それによれば、作者・馬琴の前年の上方方面への旅行中に三州岡崎辺で見た、ふし穴からの光を紙に当てると、像がさかさまに鮮やかに映し出されるという事象が着想の一つになっているようである(この事象については、旅行記『羇旅漫録(きりょまんろく)』に「五綵(ごしき)の山水」として記される)。(木越俊介)(2018.11)
