黒本合1冊、題簽欠、富川房信画、柱題「かに物かたり」「かにものかたり」。東洋文庫(岩崎文庫)本に上下の題簽「新/板/仁心蟹物語 上」「新/板/仁心蟹物がたり 下」あり。『青本絵外題集』1(貴重本刊行会、1974.7)172頁に同じ上冊分あり。丸に「村」の商標と桜下の馬の意匠から午年の村田版。画工名が富川房信なので宝暦12年(1762)刊か。丸に「村」は入れ木の疑いあり。(内容)蟹満寺(かにまんじ)伝説もの。  (上)山城国の百姓与茂作の一人娘おまんは普門品を書写し、蛇が毎夕来る。百姓武右衛門は蟹を毎日取って酒の肴にする。おまんは武右衛門に干魚を渡し蟹の命を救う。おまんを口説こうと追って来た武右衛門は、おまんが四郎二郎を口説く所を見付ける。おまんと四郎二郎は深い仲となる。武右衛門は四郎二郎を踏み倒し打擲する。四郎二郎はおまんを逃がし、気を失う。与茂作は来掛かり四郎二郎に気付けを呑ませる。与茂作は帰途、蛙を呑もうとする蛇に会い、蛙を助ければ娘をやると言うと、蛇は蛙を助け、与茂作宅へやって来る。与茂作はおまんに話し、おまん嘆き悲しむ。(下)四郎二郎はこのことを聞き、おまんと共に日頃信心の観世音に参詣する。その帰途武右衛門に出会う。武右衛門は、普門品を読誦する四郎二郎を縛り、おまんを口説き、従わぬので二人を切り殺そうとすると、大蟒蛇(うわばみ)現れ武右衛門を噛み殺す。観世音の助けか縄も切れ二人は逃げる。蟒蛇はおまんを追いかける。大川のほとりで、すでに危うい時、数万の蟹が穴から出て蟒蛇に取り付きずたずたに切り殺す。おまんは助けた蟹が救ってくれたと悟り、喜ぶ。与茂作は四郎二郎を婿に取り目出度く隠居して楽々暮らした。(木村八重子)
