黒本2冊(合1冊)、画作者無記、版元は本文の商標により村田屋。柱題「うミ川」。所蔵は当館のみ。題簽が発見されず本来の題名は未確定。後補書題簽「鯉の鳴神/たこのたへま/海川水魚交」とあるのは角書を逆に誤り、扉の墨記「こいのたへま/たこの鳴神/海川水魚の交 上下」が正しい。『日本小説年表』(『近代日本文学大系』第25巻 国民図書、1929)には「鯉のたへま/鮹の鳴神/海川水魚交」とある。  (内容)川魚と海魚の異類騒動を「鳴神」ものに擬した作品。(上)利根川の小魚どもが大鷺に食われ、案じた鯰と鰻は海魚の秋刀魚を取って干物にする。鮹と鯛はこれを怒り鯱に注進。怒った鯱は鮹入道に竜神を封じ込め渇水で川魚を皆殺しにせよと命ずる。鮹入道が鳴神のように龍神を封じ込め、川に水なく川魚は死ぬ。淀川の鯉は雲の絶間姫のように女の姿となり、(下)鮹入道に酒を飲ませ酔い臥させ、お家芸の滝登りで巌に登り注連縄を切って落とす。鮹入道は大いに怒り大石を差し上げ追いかける。河童も皿に水を受け、百人力となり、鮹入道に真水を掛け、鮹入道は弱り臥す。海魚側は、干魃で取れた川魚を秋刀魚の仇として俎上で背を裂き串に刺して蒲焼きにし、鰻の首を切り並べ曝す。鯰は鬚を切られ涙を流す。河童は(子供の尻を狙うので)穴知りを自慢して鰻を療治する。鰻は穴釣りで痛い目に遭ったので、河童の穴好きに用心なさいという。不忍池の鼈(すっぽん)は弁天のご夢想の膏薬で鯰の傷を療治する。さて、海川両家は和睦して水魚の交りを約束、大鷺を討ち青鷺を捕らえる。鮹入道も鯉と仲良く島台を奉る。竜門の鯉は出世の門出と名を残し、めでたしめでたし。(木村八重子)
