 大判錦絵7枚からなる折本仕立の絵本。「吉書はしめ」「きそはしめ」「弓はしめ」「蔵ひらき」「馬のりそめ」「ゆとのはしめ」「あきなひはしめ」と題する江戸の正月の行事、風俗7景が描かれる。「美津朝」とは正月元日がその年、月、日の三つの始めであることから題されている。当時、芝居絵、美人画の第一人者であった鳥居清長(1752−1815)の全盛期の作品。第7景「あきなひはしめ」は本書の版元である絵双紙屋永寿堂(西村与八)の店頭における初売り風景。女性の帯柄には篆書で「永寿」の文字がデザインされている。調和のとれた色彩と巧みな筆致で芸術性の高い絵本である。当館所蔵のほか、フランス国立図書館、ボストン美術館の所蔵が知られている。画商林忠正の蔵書印、パリの宝石商で浮世絵収集家ヴェヴェール(H.Vever)の書入がある。(2019.9最終更新)
