| Description |
English: Current-voltage (IV) graph illustrating a negative resistance that has multiple stable states. This is a current controlled negative resistance in which the voltage is a single valued function of current but current is a multivalued function of voltage. This curve has two separate regions of negative differential resistance (red). By biasing it with the correct external resistance (load line R) it can have three separate stable operating points (black dots). This type of negative resistance can be created on a digital integrated circuit by two transistors with feedback, and is being studied for use in multivalued logic.
