Nederlands: Mooy-Aal en haar aanbiddersMoeyaert heeft hier de vier hoofdrolspelers uitgebeeld van het toneelstuk ‘Moortje’ van Gerbrand Adriaensz Bredero (1585–1618). Hierin moet de mooie Aal kiezen tussen de arme maar knappe jongeman Ritsert en de oude maar rijke zeeman Roemert. Op advies van Kackerlack, de man links, kiest zij voor beiden. Zo is iedereen tevreden. Claes Moyaert was van 1640 tot 1641 lid van het bestuur van de Amsterdamse Schouwburg, waar de toneelstukken van Bredero werden opgevoerd. Moeyaert was succesvol als schilder van historiestukken en portretten. Zowel Pieter Lastman als Rembrandt hadden invloed op zijn werk. Moyaert was zelf de leermeester van Nicolaes Berchem.
