Description
Deutsch: Freising, Diözesanmuseum – das Museum informiert auf dem Schildchen an der Vitrine:
Monstranz mit Krippenszene, Ferdinand Harrach, München, 1886.
Bei der Jahreszahl scheint sich ein Tippfehler eingeschlichen zu haben. Die an der Rückseite angebrachte Signatur (in lateinischer Sprache) lese ich wie folgt: „(...?) Ferd: Harrach, Monach: 1868“.
Ferdinand Harrach wurde 1855 Meister, arbeitete in München und starb 1898. Auch die Frauenkirche (1863) und das Herzogliche Georgianum (1861) in München besitzen Monstranzen von seiner Hand. – Im Unterschied zu den üblichen Krippendarstellungen knien Maria und Josef hier nicht anbetend vor dem Jesuskind, sondern vor der Hostie. Dazwischen sind Leidenswerkzeuge dargestellt: Dornenkrone und Kreuz. Die großen Weinstöcke an der linken und rechten Seite verweisen ebenfalls voraus auf die Passion: beim letzten Abendmahl und in der hl. Messe wird der Wein zum Blut Christi. – Zwei Hirten (seitlich), zwei Schafe und drei Engel mit Spruchband „Gloria in excelsis Deo“ komplettieren die weihnachtliche Szenerie. Über dem eigentlichen Schaugefäß gibt eine Inschrift den Inhalt an: „Ecce Panis Angelorum“. Am Fuß der Monstranz sind die zwölf Apostel dargestellt.
