This movie shows observations of NOAA Active Region 11193 over a 24-hour period from April 18-19, 2011. An "active region" sits above a sunspot and is a site of particularly strong magnetic activity. Many micro-flares (short-lived, minor brightenings) occur in the core of this region, while jets (streams of plasma escaping the sun along open magnetic field lines) frequently appear on either side. These images were taken using XRT's Ti-poly filter.
