| Description |
English: Metropole Hotel. Continue walking along the Esplanade until you reach the Metropole Hotel. Built in 1890 by Alfred Waterhouse on the site of former cottages the architecture, particularly the red terracotta bricks, was initially criticised. Now listed and one of the top hotels in Brighton along with its near neighbour, the Grand. Unfortunately, the current scaffolding hides this view.
