Title
Mesolithic Flint Flaked Tranchet Axe Head
Description
English: A complete flint flaked tranchet axehead of Mesolithic date. The flint is a pale to medium grey colour with rust-red/brown, and mainly linear, iron staining on the prominent flake ridges, in particular on one face. This may be the result of plough damage. The axehead has an oval blade and a pointed butt end, with relatively heavy flaking on all surfaces. It measures 134.55mm in length, 57.22mm in width, 30.49mm in thickness, and weighs 231.50g. This axehead is of Mesolithic date.
