Bahasa Indonesia: Rempah Indonesia pernah berjaya dan memberikan dampak besar bagi dunia. Rempah bukan hanya sebagai identitas bangsa, melainkan juga sebagai alat pemersatu yang menghubungkan daerah-daerah di Nusantara. Sudah barang tentu melalui jalur perdagangan rempah terjadi interaksi yang berdampak pada bidang ekonomi, sosial, maupun budaya. Pulau Kalimantan sendiri telah terdeteksi dalam perdagangan rempah dunia setidaknya sejak abad ke-2 Masehi. Rempah dari Kalimantan tidak hanya dikenal di India dan Cina, tetapi juga di Jazirah Arab dan Persia. Kalimantan pun tidak sekedar tempat singgah karena menawarkan hasil alam yang bernilai ekonomis, seperti kamper dan rempah wangi lainnya. Fokus buku ini bertujuan untuk mengajukan jenis rempah lainnya, yaitu rempah wangi berupa kayu gaharu (orang Dayak menyebutnya Garu), resin kayu, kayu manis liar, dan juga sebangsa kayu wangi seperti kayu manis liar yang dikenal dengan sintok. Selain itu, buku ini juga akan memberikan informasi terkait bagaimana masyarakat Dayak memanfaatkan berbagai produk rempah-rempah khas Kalimantan terutama di wilayah Kalimantan Tengah khususnya di Kabupaten Gunung Mas dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, baik sebagai penambah cita rasa dalam masakan, sebagai tanaman obat penyembuh, dan sebagai pelengkap dalam ritual kepercayaan setempat.
English: Indonesian spices have triumphed and have had a big impact on the world. Spices are not only a national identity, but also a unifying tool that connects regions in the archipelago. Of course, through the spice trade route, there was interaction that had an impact on the economic, social, and cultural fields. Kalimantan Island itself has been detected in the world spice trade since at least the 2nd century AD. Spices from Kalimantan are not only known in India and China, but also in the Arabian Peninsula and Persia. Kalimantan is not just a place to stop because it offers natural products that have economic value, such as camphor and other fragrant spices. The focus of this book is to propose other types of spices, namely the fragrant spice in the form of agarwood (the Dayak people call it Garu), wood resin, wild cinnamon, and also a kind of fragrant wood such as wild cinnamon known as sintok. In addition, this book will also provide information regarding how the Dayak people use various spice products typical of Kalimantan, especially in the Central Kalimantan region, especially in Gunung Mas Regency, in their daily lives, namely as flavor enhancers in cooking, as medicinal plants, and as a complement to local belief rituals.
