“Benton 3rd Feby 1824 Friend Hunt I this day made a settlement of the plough concern with M Kendig Jr agreeable to your request. After Esq Kendig was gone I discovered a receipt of the Rusco’s for $8.93 given May 30 1823 which on a reference to the account as made out you will readily discover was not there charged. I do not wish the money refunded but am willing to receive it out of the money to be paid in on the notes now in my hands. I have given you this early notice of the mistake that it may be arranged between you & the Ruscoe’s and hope the above Statement together with a reference to the account & current will be satisfactory Be pleased to write me on the receipt of this & oblige your friend Martin Gage RP Hunt N.B. The above receipt was mislaid among some other papers – "
On back of document: "The P. Martin will confer a favor by handing this to friend Hunt – free M. Gage Pill Benton Friend R.P. Hunt Waterloo [Senecalea?]"
