Français : Produite à la veille des révolutions industrielles et française, cette carte de 1782 réalisée par Louis Delarochette représente l'Empire allemand près d'un siècle avant l'unification du pays par Otto von Bismarck. Elle est extraite de l'ouvrage General Atlas (Atlas général) de Thomas Kitchen, créé à l'origine par Louis Stanislas d'Arcy Delarochette afin d'illustrer l'univers tout entier. Kitchen, dont le nom était également souvent orthographié « Kitchin », était un cartographe londonien. Il a réalisé des cartes de l'Angleterre, de la grande Europe et de certaines parties de l'Empire britannique, et il également été le principal hydrographe du roi. English: Produced on the eve of the Industrial and French revolutions, this 1782 map by Louis Delarochette represents the German Empire nearly a century before Otto von Bismarck’s unification of the country. It is part of Thomas Kitchen’s General Atlas, originally created by Louis Stanislas d'Arcy Delarochette and purportedly designed to show the entire universe. Kitchen, whose name was also frequently spelled “Kitchin,” was a London-based cartographer and engraver of maps of England, greater Europe, and parts of the British Empire who was employed as a senior hydrographer to the king. Best known for his work on the London Magazine and his county maps of England, he became a prolific mapmaker by exploiting weak 18th-century copyright protections and habitually expropriating the work of other mapmakers. A different version of the German Empire map, also attributed to Delarochette and “Kitchin,” was printed in 1790 for Robert Sayer, a Fleet Street map and print seller.

É parte do Atlas Geral de Thomas Kitchen, originalmente criado por Louis Stanislas d'Arcy Delarochette e supostamente destinado a exibir todo o universo. Kitchen, cujo nome era também muitas vezes escrito “Kitchin”, foi um cartógrafo em Londres e gravador de mapas da Inglaterra, da Europa continental, e de partes do Império Britânico, que foi contratado como hidrógrafo sênior para o rei.
