Anthornis melanura English: Male Bellbird vocalising at intervals of 20 to 30 seconds. The bird is constantly turning its head apparently listening and watching then extends its whole body to emit each loud note. Distant background bird calls are from Hihi, Blackbird, Greywarbler, and Kaka. Sequence ends with the "whirr" of the Bellbird's wings as it flys off. Recorded near birdfeeders in the "Discovery area", Karori wildlife sanctuary (Zealandia), Wellington, New Zealand. |
