| Description |
English: Making final preparations for take off This RAF Sea King helicopter has been stranded at the Borders General Hospital at Melrose since Wednesday 6th January and was ready at last on Sunday 10th January to take off for RAF Boulmer in Northumberland. RAF engineers had worked over the weekend to resolve the engine problems that had caused the helicopter to be grounded and a Chinook helicopter that was to airlift the helicopter away was not required. One of the pilots is checking the tail rotor during a walk round inspection prior to take off. This photograph was taken from the flat roof of the hospital. |
