Description
English: Basilica of Saint Servatius, Maastricht, the Netherlands. Capital on exterior apse (upper zone, fourth capital) depicting two kneeling figures facing each other while embracing. The two figures are naked and entwined in foliage issuing from a small animal mask placed centrally on the main side of the capital. Maastricht workshop, ca.1140-1150.
