Nederlands: Ansichtkaart van watermolen De Reek, ook wel Bovenste Weyersmolen, Heksenstraat 1 (Heksenhoek genaamd), Maastricht. Op deze plek waar de Jeker de stad binnenstroomt lagen in de middeleeuwen meerdere molens, vooral volmolens, waarmee wollen stoffen tijdens het verviltingsproces tot lakense stof werden veredeld. Tot het begin van de negentiende eeuw lagen er nog vier molens. Alleen het molengebouw van de bovenste molen is bewaard gebleven, vernoemd naar de Reek, het Maastrichtse woord voor waterpoort. Oorspronkelijk was het ook een volmolen. In 1863 werd de molen gekocht door de aardewerkfabriek Société Céramique, die er een vernismolen in onderbracht, die tot 1935 in gebruik bleef. Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog had er onder anderen Charles Eyck een glasatelier. |
