Description

Burnley tunnel, shortly before opening, Dec 2000

Melbourne City Link, Burnley tunnel: looking east along the pedestrian escape tunnel from Swan St shaft. A twist in the tunnel alignment can just be seen in the distance.

If I escaped into this 1500 m long tunnel from a vehicle fire, I think I'd go back to the main traffic tube just to get away from the monotony of the lighting scheme.
