Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Low tide at Hanover Point At low tide these rocks off Hanover Point are exposed. They are famous for their 'fossil forest' and dinosaur remains, including dinosaur footprints and casts, and a trackway leading across a red clay bed. Towards the left "The Thimble" protrudes from the rocks, a range safety marker for the former Freshwater battery. On the right in the far distance is the chalk headland leading up to The Needles at the western tip of the Isle of Wight. On the horizon to the left of the photo (to the left of The Thimble) is the southern part of the Isle of Purbeck.
