Summary
[edit]DescriptionLock No 19, Stourbridge Canal at Stourton - geograph.org.uk - 974487.jpg |
English: Lock No 19, Stourbridge Canal at Stourton The breach (see images in SO8785) of the canal embankment on the night of September 7th means that passage from here to Stourbridge, or Birmingham via Netherton Tunnel will now be impossible (they say) for at least 4-6 months. Water is due to be pumped into the pound above Stourton top lock starting on 22nd September, but this will only be to allow a boatyard to resume some activity, and allow stranded boaters passage down to the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal at Stourton Junction. This image shows the top gates of the second lock up in the Stourton flight of four. |
