Description
Deutsch: 2: Die Erzählung.
Manrico hält sich für den Sohn der Zigeunerin Azucena. Dereinst hat der alte Graf Luna die Mutter Azucenas als Hexe verbrennen lassen. Um sie zu rächen, raubte die Zigeunerin einen der kleinen Söhne des Grafen, um das Kind gleichfalls dem Feuertode zu weihen. Halb wahnsinnig vor Erregung vergriff sie sich und warf ihr eigenes Kind in die Flammen. Seitdem ist ihr Geist völlig umnachtet; traurig klingt den Zigeunern ihr Sang.
