English: This video was taken inside a stand of trees in woodland at Lee Point, Northern Territory adjacent to Casuarina Coastal Reserve. This land is in a zone planned for development by Defence Housing Australia. Clearing of this habitat has been delayed pending environmental review. At this time, it is mid wet season, there is regular rain. The "gamba grass" at the bottom is far from its full height. The trees are near their maximum thickness of foliage. The birds make noise all day. There are many small birds, including at least one thumb sized. Nocturnal possums and northern brown bandicoots live here. Orange footed scrub fowl and sometimes curlews wander through. The IUCN red-listed "black footed tree rat" has been seen here. |
