Lady Bird Johnson Home Movies, Home Movie 42. Silent footage from the 1960s of the Johnson family and friends. The first part features Mrs. Johnson, her brother Tony Taylor, Lynda Johnson, and LBJ visiting with various unidentified people in the White House Rose Garden. There are scenes of wild flowers, the Washington Monument, and LBJ in a sport shirt and sports jacket. The second part of this film features LBJ, Lady Bird Johnson, Lynda Johnson, Walt Rostow, Elspeth Rostow and others on board the "Honey Fitz" on the Potomac River. President Johnson seems to be in a meeting with an unidentified woman for part, and later he is wearing a sports shirt and jacket and playing with a small child (the child even combs LBJ's hair!). Meanwhile he sits with Lady Bird in the back of the boat, and we see Lynda Johnson on a deck chair. The third portion of this film features footage of the LBJ Ranch. 1960's cowboys wander through the scene, observing cattle. The camera pauses on a dead dear hanging from a fence before the film splices.

The last segment of the film feature scenes from the Pedernales River and surrounding land. The footage of goats on a rocky hilltop near the river is slightly underexposed, but we can clearly see a man holding a rattlesnake. The camera drifts from a rattlesnake sunning on a rock to rock formations near the Pedernales River. We see a waterfall and rapids, and mud bird nests on the rock walls. An armadillo runs across the sand near the river and then the camera cuts to views of wildflowers (customary in a Mrs. Johnson home movie). The sun sets over the range, and film ends.
