La Petite Bande olv. Sigiswald Kuijken - Integrale Brandenburgse Concerti Nederlands: Kijkt u net als wij uit naar een wereldprimeur met Bach? Sigiswald Kuijken en La Petite Bande bedienen u op uw wenken. Zij voeren het Derde Brandenburgs Concerto uit met drie violoncelli da spalla in de plaats van drie celli. Volgens Kuijken precies zoals Bach het voorschrijft. Maar zo heeft u het nog niet gehoord. Van de zes Brandenburgse Concerti (1721) weten we met vrij grote zekerheid dat Bach ze niet schreef voor het hoforkest van de markgraaf van Brandenburg, hoewel hun naam dat verkeerd doet vermoeden. Daarvoor zijn ze te moeilijk speelbaar, qua bezetting te uitgebreid en vereisen de solopartijen echte virtuozen. Die uitstekende musici waren er wel in de Hofkapel van Köthen. Bach was er van 1717 tot 1723 'Capellmeister und Director der Cammermusiken'. Men zegt wel eens dat Bach in Köthen zijn meest levensblije periode doorbracht. De wervelende ritmes en rijke klankkleuren van deze 'Köthense' concerti weerspiegelen dit. De concerti illustreren overigens perfect Bachs houding tot zijn vak. Hij kon aan het calvinistische hof van Köthen geen kerkmuziek componeren, dus schreef hij er haast uitsluitend instrumentale muziek. Bovenal zijn deze concerti schitterende en virtuoze composities, uniek in hun verscheidenheid. Français : Êtes-vous comme nous impatients de découvrir une première mondiale consacrée à Bach? Ils interprètent le Troisième Concerto Brandebourgeois avec trois violoncelli da spalla à la place de trois violoncelles - d'après Kuijken précisément tel que Bach le voulait, mais comme vous ne l'avez jamais encore entendu. Des six Concertos Brandebourgeois - et bien que leur nom puisse nous induire en erreur-, nous savons presque certainement que Bach ne les a pas composés pour l'orchestre de la cour du margrave de Brandebourg. Ils sont pour cela trop difficiles à jouer et de formation trop importante; en outre, les parties solistes exigent de véritables virtuoses. Des excellents musiciens de ce niveau appartenaient cependant à la Chapelle musicale de la Cour de Cöthen, où Bach fut 'Capellmeister und Director der Cammermusiken' entre 1717 et 1723. On dit parfois que Bach connut à Cöthen la période la plus heureuse de sa vie. Les rythmes tourbillonnants et la richesse sonore de ces concertos ' de Cöthen ' en témoignent. Les concertos illustrent du reste parfaitement l'attitude de Bach par rapport à sa profession. Il ne pouvait pas écrire de musique d'église à la cour calviniste de Cöthen et y composa donc presque exclusivement de la musique instrumentale. Ces concertos sont en outre des œuvres brillantes et virtuoses, uniques dans leur diversité. English: Do you keep an eye out for world premieres of Bach performances, as we do? According to Kuijken, this is precisely how Bach had intended it. But you have probably never heard it played in this way. Of the six Brandenburg Concertos (1721) we know with a fair degree of certainty that Bach did not write them for the court orchestra of the Marquis of Brandenburg, even though their names appear to indicate a relationship. Furthermore, they have been considered to be too difficult to play and the orchestration too large for the number of players in the court orchestra, plus the solo parts were really for virtuoso players. However, such outstanding musicians did exist at the Chapel Royal in Cöthen. Bach was there from 1717 to 1723 as 'Kapellmeister and Director of Chamber Music'. It is said that Bach spent the happiest period of his life in Cöthen. This is reflected in the whirling rhythms and the rich timbre of these 'Cöthenian' concertos. The concertos perfectly illustrate, for that matter, Bach's attitude toward his profession. At the Calvinistic chapel in Cöthen he was unable to compose any church music. He therefore almost exclusively wrote instrumental music. These concertos are fantastic, virtuosic compositions, unique in their diversity. |
