Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This weekend at the GOP convention, Ken Bennett, Secretary of State and Arizona Co-Chairman of Mitt Romney's campaign, went out of his way to try to shut up constituents who were upset after Mr. Romney's son broke the written GOP Rules by giving a speech for his delegates! People in the audience were calling out and saying that the rules were being broken, but those in charge of the GOP convention allowed the speech to continue. No other candidate was allowed the same opportunity. It isn't right that Mr. Bennett, an elected official, would sit back and allow this and participate in breaking the rules. As Secretary of the State, Ken Bennett serves as the chief election officer for the state. He is first in line to succeed the governor. He serves as acting governor when the governor is absent from the state. Bennett has formed an exploratory committee to run for Governor of Arizona in 2014. As you can see by the photos below, Bennett is a Romney supporter. Take Action!

And yes, it was Bennett's son that raped 18 boys:

The son of Arizona's Senate president confessed that he and another counselor shoved broomsticks and flashlights into the rectums of 18 boys in at least 40 incidents at a youth camp in June.

Now Yavapai County prosecutors say they will drop all but one assault charge and likely recommend little or no jail time if 18-year-old Clifton Bennett agrees to plead guilty.

A similar agreement has been offered to co-defendant Kyle Wheeler, 19, who faces an additional assault charge for choking three of the boys until they passed out.

In the first hours of camp, Bennett and Wheeler announced that campers who broke rules would get a "brooming."

They were punished for flatulence, making messes, not following rules and sometimes for no reason at all, records show. The camp ended in June, but police weren't notified until six months later, when one of the boys told a school official what happened. http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/0402bennett02.html?&a...

Ultimately Clifton, only 17 years old and a minor, plead guilty to one count of aggravated assault. Clifton was sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years probation. Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, said he "had questions about the handling of the case," but that his office had no authority to intervene.[14] Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk defended the plea bargain and accused the news media of misrepresenting the issue.[15]
