Summary

Description
English:
Tomb cross on high brick pedestal? in the Catholic cemetery. About the cemetery: there are several cemeteries in Makó according to denomination, which are still used today. According to medieval tradition, the Makó Catholics were buried around the church after the resettlement (around 1699). Today's Szent István Square was larger then, encompassing the beginning of today's School and Pázmány Street; The old one-storey Catholic school and today's church school were built on the territory of the cemetery, and graves were found during the digging of the foundations of the latter. In the Roman Catholic cemetery, the same threefold division can be observed in the burial order as in the life of the city. The crypts – where the graves of the Lonovics, Nyéky or Kristóffy families are located, among others – are surrounded by a zone of switched graves, while the outer plots are made up of free graves. The heroic graves can be found in the northern half of the graveyard. The cross of the cemetery was still made of wood in 1817, the stone cross with a corpus made of stone was erected by József Selmeczi, a resident of Makó, at his own expense in 1829. - 38/c Kálvária Street, Gizella Street, Holló Street, Teleki Blanka Street, Vertán neighborough, Makó, Csongrád-Csanád County, Hungary.
