Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This photo shows the famous 4-way covered intersection (called "Char Su" in Persian language), which does not exist today. The scene on the street is likely before the September 1 Battle of Kandahar and after the July 27 Battle of Maiwand in which the British suffered a major defeat. The fortified city of Kandahar was besieged by Ayub Khan and his forces, who were camped outside the city in nearby Arghandab. The faces of the people show that they were not happy about these wars and the deaths of so many people.
