Description
English: BRUCE BUCKINGHAM: Next question is from Junichi in Niihama City, and he's got several questions. So let's go through them one at a time. First question: 'I'd like you to tell me the reason why the Delta IV rocket is used in launching the GOES-N.' ANDRE' DRESS: Sure. Originally, the GOES program was planned to be launched on a Delta III rocket, and that had about three missions, and those weren't all entirely successful. So the Delta IV program came along, and there was an opportunity to get on that rocket. And with the Delta IV rocket, it gave us much more performance, much more capability, in that it gave us much more fuel life on the spacecraft. And so we could actually launch the spacecraft and get those 14 years of fuel out of it. In addition, where, we saw the possibility of other missions actually going before GOES, and so that gave us a little more confidence in the vehicle. BRUCE BUCKINGHAM: Very good.
