MS. STILSON: Okay. Ernesto from Santa Clarita asks, do you think that children will ever be allowed to travel into space with the astronauts. MS. HIRE: Well, I think children will not travel with astronauts.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: MS. STILSON: Okay. Ernesto from Santa Clarita asks, do you think that children will ever be allowed to travel into space with the astronauts. MS. HIRE: Well, I think children will not travel with astronauts. But I think some day, children will travel with colonists. If you think all the way back to early discovery in our history, let's say Christopher Columbus, in his expeditions, when Christopher Columbus first left to come across the Atlantic, he brought a group of explorers with him and he did not bring his children because they didn't know if they were just going to sail off the edge of the Earth. But once he made several trips and we eventually get to the point where the colonists started to come, they brought their entire families. So when we reach the point where it's no longer just exploration and it's truly colonization, then I believe we can bring families and pets and all types of things.
