Description
English: The seven astronauts slated to fly on Return to Flight mission STS-114 were put to the test at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on February 10th and 11th. 'There's a formal test that's taking place, it's called the Crew Equipment Interface Test or CEIT. This is a test that every Space Shuttle astronaut crew takes before they fly.' The two-day event gave the crew members a standard prelaunch look at orbiter Discovery, which will carry them to the International Space Station. 'There are three groups of objectives or goals that we hope to get out of this. One of them, we're going to do mostly today, is to walk around the outside of Discovery.' A walk-down and visual inspection of Discovery's exterior will help astronauts when they conduct on-orbit inspections. Inside Discovery's crew cabin, the crew members became more familiar with hardware and equipment. They also ventured through Discovery's payload bay, reviewing normal tasks for the Extra-Vehicular Activities, or EVAs, they'll perform during the mission. As the May-June launch window approaches and NASA continues to meet prelaunch milestones, the astronauts' excitement builds. 'We're really excited about it. We're going to have a great mission.'
