Description
English: According to NASA satellites, the Earth is running a fever_ In fact, it turns out that the planet's temperature has been increasing for decades. Several Earth-observing satellites have been acting as thermometers in space. Using that satellite data, NASA created an 18-year record of land surface temperatures all over the world. The study showed that on average, Earth's snow-free land surfaces steadily warmed up from 1981 to 1998. This new dataset will allow researchers to analyze daily climate trends over large or small areas. Although ground measurements have been available in the past, measurements gathered by satellites are far more detailed. The data could help improve climate studies and computer models, helping us to better understand our planet's climate.
