Description
English: The eastern end of East Cliff, West Bay, Dorset, England from Burton Bradstock (Hyde) Beach showing both the rock layers and the erosion that is taking place on this part of the Jurassic Coast. The original footpath, part of the South West Coast Path, has been closed due to the risk of the cliff-face collapsing. The cliff, which is rich in fossils, is part of the Jurassic Coast. Geologically the cliff is described as "the finest available outcrop of the Bridport Sands, overlain by Middle Jurassic Inferior Oolite and Fullers Earth".[1] and is "considered by geologists and geomorphologists to be one of the most significant teaching and research sites in the world".[2]
