Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Shows how to map, square, and then tag buildings as quickly as possible in OpenStreetMap without accidentally touching existing buildings. This is particularly helpful when mapping speed is crucial, such as in Humanitarian OSM disaster mapping tasks. The editor used is JOSM. Keyboard shortcuts were fully utilized to save time.

First, ways were added to the map. Then all of them were bulk-squared and tagged as buildings in a single operation. This is faster than individually tagging and squaring every single building.

Used filters:

  • 1. "-new" to hide all preexisting buildings.
  • 2. "-type:way" to hide nodes, because building nodes shouldn't be tagged with "building=yes" and because squaring does not work on nodes. "type:node" could have been used instead.

Used keyboard shortcuts:

  • Q for squaring.
  • A for add mode.
  • S for selection mode.
  • TAB for hiding / unhiding the sidebar.
  • ALT+A could have been used for adding the building tags, rather than clicking "add".
