English: On right of page: “New York June 16th 1827
Respected Friend R.P. Hunt
By a letter received a few days since from C & D Swift they propose to turn out paper such as shall be approved by our friend there as collateral security for the debt we have against them my object in writing is to request thee to receive from them such notes as in thy opinion will secure thy payment of about $370 dollars – and I will give thee ample compensation for they trouble I shall write to them requesting them [inserted] to hand the notes to thee and it will therefore be unnecessary to take any trouble – more than to receive them when they are offered as it is their own proposition I expect it will be done promptly -- If any considerable time should pass without their attendancy to it I shall be much obliged for that information by a letter from thee.
