English: Dr. David Jayne Building, 242-44 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA. (1849-50, rebuilt after fire 1872, demolished 1957 to make way for Independence National Historical Park)
Architect: William J. Johnston.

Some architectural historians consider this 129-foot-tall Venetian Gothic building the first skyscraper built in the United States.
