| Description |
English: Created by Nicky McLean using MatLab to depict the progress of a linear interpolation search method. The black points and jagged line show the set of values being searched, the horizontal black line represents the value to be found, which is not in the set and on this scale appears to be on the x-axis. The progressive lines in red, magenta, green and blue represent the successive linear interpolations performed, from the intercept with the V line to the nearest x-axis index as the next probe position. Coloured dots represent the shift of the probe should its interpolated position round to an index previously checked. This image should be viewed in association with File:InterpolationSearch12.png. This image is for y values being exp(x) instead of the y values used in File:InterpolationSearch12.png |
