English: International campaign for the safeguard of sites and monuments in the Cultural Triangle. At the request of the Sri-Lankan Government UNESCO is taking part in a five-year programme to restore and protect the principal sites and monuments within a zone marked out by the ancient cultural capitals of Anuradhapura Polonnaruwa and Kandy. Statues of Buddha in the rock temple of Dambulla (1st-3rd centuries B.C.).
Français : Campagne internationale pour la sauvegarde des sites et monuments du Triangle culturel. A la demande du Gouvernement du Sri Lanka l'UNESCO participe à un programme de cinq ans destiné à restaurer et à assurer la protection des principaux sites et monuments à l'intérieur d'une zone délimitée par les anciennes capitales culturelles d'Anuradhapura Polonnaruwa et Kandy. Statues de Buddha à l'intérieur du temple rupestre de Dambulla (Ier-IIIe s. av. J.C.).
