English: Hut circle on Carman Muir. The foreground of this photo shows the interior of a hut circle. The line of its wall enters the photo near the lower left corner, curving towards a point about halfway up the right-hand edge. For another view, see 1905310. When the present photograph was taken, twelve years after the WoSAS report, exposed stones could no longer be seen in the boundary wall, but the circular course of the wall was still quite clearly visible. In the background of the photo, on the right-hand side, is Carman Hill, where an ancient hill-fort ( https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/697526 ) is located; that fort also contains some hut circle sites ( https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1348692 ). The book "Archaeology Around Glasgow" (by Susan Hothersall) discusses the fort itself, but then goes on to mention a number of other sites nearby, including this hut circle: "The fort has not been excavated. A number of round and oval cairns (NS368 787 and NS366 785), and a possible hut circle (NS3696 7858) have been identified on lower ground to the south-west of the fort, but these too have remained untouched by archaeologists; they may be evidence of agriculture or settlement of an earlier period."
