Description
Nederlands: Hoewel muggen piepklein zijn is hun impact op de wereldgeschiedenis enorm. In dit college vertelt entomoloog dr. ir. Bart Knols over de link tussen muggen, Charles Darwin en George Clooney.

Deze week bij de Universiteit van Nederland! Entomoloog dr. ir. Bart Knols over de malariamug.

Bart Knols is medisch entomoloog en specialist op het gebied van muggen en tropische infectieziekten. Als mede-oprichter van het Wagenings onderzoeksbedrijf In2Care doet hij onderzoek  naar malaria met financiering van de EU. Knols wordt geroemd om zijn 'out of the box’ onderzoek, zijn passie en onuitputtelijke enthousiasme. In 2007 ontving hij voor zijn baanbrekend onderzoek de Eijkmanmedaille, de hoogste onderscheiding in Nederland op het gebied van de tropische geneeskunde en internationale gezondheidszorg.
