| Description |
English: Hodmire Lane. This southerly facing photograph shows the very western end of Hodmire Lane (ahead) at its junction with the old Mill Lane (foreground, leading behind the viewpoint) and an unnamed¹ road to the right (leading to a 597657 - the new one).
The junction of the three roads forms a triangle of ground (a corner of which is seen here in the bottom right) upon which is built the 597765. The junction where the car is (ahead) is where the vehicular entry for visitors to Hardwick Hall. The building of the M1 Motorway effectively cut the village of Stainsby in two. The war memorial, 491884 (on the left, photograph by John Fielding) and some farms are on this side of the motorway. Whilst the main part of the village is to the right (westerly), on the other side of the motorway. The building of the motorway also created the two Mill Lanes. The original, severed, lane is in the foreground leading away behind the viewpoint and the new alignment is to the right (westerly, beyond the motorway).
