English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
Commemoration of the Battle of Arnhem. SHOTS: - pan across the river landscape outside Arnhem with Rhine and Rijnbrug (Rhine bridge); - a memorial service takes place at the Airborne monument on the militairy honourary burial ground in Oosterbeek: flags fly half-mast; soldiers and former fighters stand to attention; priests and acolytes arrive in a procession and pray at the graves; school children lay flowers at the crosses; - a cortege marches, with flags and banners, through the streets of Arnhem; in the cortege are a.o. relatives of the fallen and former fighters; - the cortege gathers near the monument near the Rijnbrug; the flags fly half-mast there; soldiers stand to attention; at the monument flowers and wreaths are laid, a.o. by the Polish general St. Sosabowski.

Herdenking van de Slag om Arnhem. SHOTS: - pan over rivierlandschap buiten Arnhem met Rijn en Rijnbrug; - bij het Airborne-monument op de militaire erebegraafplaats te Oosterbeek vindt een herdenkingsplechtigheid plaats: vlaggen wapperen halfstok; militairen en oud-strijders staan aangetreden; priesters en misdienaars komen in processie aan en bidden bij de graven; schoolkinderen leggen bloemen bij de grafkruisen; - een stoet trekt, met vlaggen en vaandels, door de straten van Arnhem; in de stoet lopen oa mee nabestaanden van gevallenen en oud-strijders; - de stoet verzamelt zich bij het monument bij de Rijnbrug; aldaar wapperen vlaggen halfstok; militairen staan aangetreden; bij het monument worden bloemen en kransen gelegd, oa door de Poolse generaal St. Sosabowski. |
