Description |
English: H.M.S. Satellite commanded by Captain T. Robb in a heavy gale, Feby 28th 1838. Lat 29. Long 64. Drawn by Chetwynd Plowden Wood, Midshipman on board, 2nd son of General. I. S. Wood In this print, the sloop HMS Satellite is shown listing to the port side while riding out a heavy storm. A wave breaks over the starboard bow, and figures of men can be seen in the rigging trying to reef the sails. The ship's gunports are tightly closed to prevent water from getting into the ship. Distant land can be seen on the left horizon. |
